While it’s pretty solid advice, most people don’t really know what it means or how to do it.
If your doctor advised you to start making lifestyle changes for the sake of your physical and mental wellbeing, and you asked him/her how to actually do it, they’d struggle to give you the exact steps to take.
And they definitely wouldn’t have the skill set to coach you on how to actually do it. You’d get a bit of vague advice around lifestyle change, and off you go, none the wiser and no better equipped than before.
That’s why at Reset Fitness we created The Habit Snowball Method
The Habit Snowball is the sustainable path to a high quality lifestyle that plans out the main habits required to improve your lifestyle, and ties it into a realistic, sustainable timeframe.
Client Levels
At Reset Fitness we categorize our clients into Client Levels to give people a clear path to the healthier lifestyle they want, as well as helping them understand what is sustainable and what isn’t.
Your client level is 100% based on what you consistently do, not on what you know, read about or used to do.
This is super important to understand because even if you’ve competed at an elite sporting level, had a 6 pack 2 years ago, or have a degree in nutrition or medicine, you’re still a level 1 client if you’re not implementing the Habit Snowball habits consistently………..and the quality of your lifestyle will reflect this.
- Level 1 Clients- in a rut and feeling the negative impact of it on their quality of life- they need of a sustainable lifestyle change!
- Level 2 Clients- fit, strong and healthy people who enjoy a good quality lifestyle, without extreme fitness programs or diets
- Level 3 Clients- looking for more advanced fitness goals that aren’t required to be healthy, but can fun, challenging, nice to look back on in life, etc.- we won’t cover this area in this post
You’re at where you’re at when it comes to your client level, not where you’d like to be at or used to be at.
Level 1 Clients
These clients are in a rut and and have more unhealthy habits than healthy ones, and these habits are negatively impacting their quality if life.
Level 1 clients are generally doing less of the habits outlined in The Habit Snowball such as exercise, drinking enough water, eating fruit and veggies, etc.
Yes, you’ve guessed it….. they need a Lifestyle Change!!
They need to transform from a Level 1 client to a Level 2 client, usually over a 6-12 month timeframe, by following the habit Snowball Method outlined above.
It’s slower approach, but it’s super powerful and super sustainable.
The most common goals of Level 1 clients include:
• Look, feel and move better
• Lose weight, drop clothes sizes, fit back into old clothes- ‘Get in shape’ and tone up’
• Keep fit, strong and healthy and increase energy levels for everyday life
• Improve health markers such as blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugars
• Improve confidence and mental wellbeing
• Build sustainable habits for improved quality of life
• Not struggle with everyday tasks eg. playing with kids, gardening, taking the stairs, running for a bus, getting dressed, etc.
• Achieve and maintain healthy bodyfat % levels:
– Men- 13-20%
– Women- 23-30%
Level 2 Clients
Level 2 is where the magic is becuase it’s a level of health and fitness that is achieveable by everyone and is super sustainable.
Level 2 clients are fit, strong and healthy and have the main habits of The Habit Snowball dialled in 80-90% of the time- there’s no need to be perfect!!
Level 1 clients are trying to develop the 10 habits of the Habit Snowball which will deliver a much better quality lifestyle, whereas Level 2 clients have already developed them to a high degree and are more focused on keeping them dialled in on a consistent basis.
Because of this, they enjoy a much better quality of life, lower risk of health related illnesses such as Type 2 Diabetes, and can do the things in life that are important to them.
Level 2 doesn’t require you to live like a monk (how do monks live?), avoid your favourite foods for weeks at a time, or overhaul your entire lifestyle over night.
You grow into the Level 2 Lifestyle over 6-12 months and never have to do anything extreme to get there or to maintain it- you just need to take sustainable action and give it time.
Focusing on building the habits outlined in The Habit Snowball over 6-12 transforms your lifestyle in a way you can sustain for years and years.
It also removes a lot of the overwhelm people feel when trying to get fit, strong and healthy because they have a realistic timeframe to change course- they don’t need to overhaul everything starting tomorrow at 7.30am
Level 2 goals are very similar to Level 1 goals, with a few tweaks which I’ve highlighted below:
Level 2 Goals often include:
• Look, feel and move better
• Occasionally focusing on more specific training goals eg. Get 12 chin ups, deadlift twice bodyweight, complete a 5km race, etc.
• Have plenty of energy for the things that are important to them in life
• Maintain healthy weight, feel good in clothes and look good/feel attractive
• Keep physically and mentally fit, strong and healthy to enjoy life more
• Improve health markers such as blood pressure, cholesterol, bone density and blood glucose
• Taking care of their future quality of life that is years down the line. A Level 1 clients main focus tends to be improving their immediate quality of life.
• Improve confidence and manage stress healthily
• Maintain sustainable habits for longterm quality of life
• Not struggle with everyday tasks eg. playing with kids, gardening, taking the stairs, running for a bus, getting dressed, etc.
• Maintain healthy bodyfat % levels:
-Men- 13-20%
-Women- 23-30%
