4 Stone And 4 Jean Sizes Down….. And No Longer Pre-Diabetic!

By Steve McGrath Leave a Comment

A massive shout-out to one of our fantastic clients, Michael, who over the past 2 years has completely transformed his health, fitness and quality of life.

Michael trains with us 3 days a week and does not follow a strict nutrition plan.

The first pic shows Michael holding the 55lb/25kg/4 stone he has dropped in that time frame, which is only one of the many benefits he sees in his everyday life.

If you can relate to Michaels story, click below for full details of our 30 day trial……. your first step in getting started with us.

—————————————————————————————————–

The main reason I started at Reset Fitness was to lose weight and just feel fitter and healthier.

My doctor said I was pre-diabetic and that I needed to take this seriously and start improving my lifestyle, including dropping the weight.

I was eating all the wrong foods, had an inactive lifestyle and it was negatively affecting my everyday life.

I was struggling to cut the grass at home, struggling to just walk in general without having to consistently stop due to being out of breath, and just felt heavy on my feet in general and out of shape.

With the help of the Reset Fitness team I have dropped 55lb, gone from a size 44 pants to a size 36, and I’m no longer classed as being pre-diabetic.

I feel much healthier and fitter in myself, feel much lighter on my feet and no longer struggle with everyday tasks such as walking and cutting the grass.

—————————————————-

No gimmicks, no quick fixes and no gimmicky training programs- you’ll never change your health, fitness and lifestyle with this approach.

Michael simply bought into our Reset Coaching system and is now reaping the rewards of a fit, healthy lifestyle.

Dave Keane- 16Kg Lighter And Transformed His Lifestyle

By Steve McGrath Leave a Comment

I work shift work and have young 2 daughters aged 3 and 8 months.

My lifestyle and general fitness weren’t great before I started.

I had started jogging a few months back but that stopped when I went on 12-hour shifts at work.

My diet was pretty bad as well and I was going for the easy option a lot i.e. takeaways, deli food, snacking on crisps, chocolate bars, etc.

I had liked and followed the Facebook page sometime back and was reading reviews one day when trying to decide whether or not to get in touch and spotted one from a guy who I now train with and a line stuck out which was “you have absolutely nothing to lose, I don’t see a downside to giving it a go, only an upside”  so I reached out.

I just wanted to get in better shape and clean up my diet and lifestyle as I was always tired and not feeling the best from the way I was living and eating.

I had never tried other programs so nerves and not knowing what to do in a gym held me back from getting in touch.

But after hearing good things about the the guys, connecting with what they were posting on Facebook and their website, I decided to reach out to them.

Even though I felt very nervous doing this, I felt very relieved once I had done it.

Once I started I felt very comfortable as my initial assessment was easy going and madfe me feel capable of achieving my goals.

Steve and the team are all very professional and passionate about health and fitness and very helpful in teaching you correct exercise form.

All the other clients are very friendly and relaxed- apart from when they’re being driven on by the coaches 😅!

My initial goal was to learn correct form and technique, and to change my diet.

I struggled with building healthy habits like snacking at the start but the support with helping you develop these, answering any questions you have, and holding you accountable outside the gym is fantastic.

Also, combating 1 new habit at a time made things a lot easier for me to sustain my new lifestyle changes and the guys have a great system for helping you do this so that you don’t get overwhelmed.

My diet has completely changed and it feels like a choice and not a chore, while still allowing myself to enjoy my favourite foods.

My fitness is steadily improving and I really enjoy the workouts. I feel more energized, fitter and stronger- I feel so much better overall.

I have dropped 16kg of body fat, recently achieved 9 chin ups, squatted 80kg 5 times and am fitter now than I’ve ever been- I just feel so much better overall.

The help from the coaches is fantastic in helping you achieve your goals, whatever they may be.

Dave’s advice to those on the fence about getting started

If you’re reading through these testimonials then you’re already thinking about getting started and have half the mental battle done.

Like I read in another clients story, take a chance, try it out and see how it fits. You have nothing to lose.

Meet Aine- She’s Down 70+lb!

By Steve McGrath Leave a Comment

After finally having enough of living a lifestyle that didn’t serve her, Aine made a true decision to change and the rest is history

She reached out to us, got started with us contact with us, and hasn’t look back since!

Great job Aine!

Meet Marie- 28lbs lighter, much happier and so proud of herself!

By Steve McGrath 5 Comments

Marie has gone from strength to strength since she got started with us.

After initially struggling to get into a consistent routine, Marie refocused on her reasons for getting started, dialled in her exercise schedule and hasn’t looked back since..

After dropping 28lbs of unwanted weight, while rebuilding her relationships with healthy eating and an active lifestyle, Marie is now reaping the rewards of a much higher quality of life.

In her own words, “So much has changed for me.”

“I work as a seamstress, which often involves working 6 days a week and lots of extra (and very unsociable) hours.

Because of this, I found it very hard to get into a consistent exercise routine and was living on absolute crap food. I’d find myself running to the shop for crisps, bars, pre-made convenience meals, and eating other fast foods at 10pm in the evening….. after a 14hour day!

While I used to be very active, I slipped into some very bad habits when I moved to Ireland. This, on top of the demands of long work days and my own mindset, left me feeling bloated, unhappy, and absolutely wrecked.

I was grumpy, struggling to get out of bed and make it through the day, and wasn’t the happiest person to be around. I didn’t like the way I looked, and felt myself getting bigger and more bloated as time went on.”

“I kept putting off making a start, telling myself I’d start next week or when things quietened down at work. Summer came and went and work was just as busy- there was always some excuse, but really, I was my number 1 obstacle!

Things got to so bad that eventually I told myself that I really had to do something about the way I was feeling and that I just had the make the time.

After seeing a Facebook ad, I decide to get in touch with Steve with a serious goal of losing weight, increasing my energy and to feel less bloated. I really just wanted to feel happier in myself, have the confidence to say “I can do this’, and not start each day feeling defeated before it had begun.

Getting into a regular exercise routine and changing my mindset around time and food were my biggest challenges at the start.

It took me a while to get into a rhythm at the start and I regularly skipping sessions due to work and still eating junk food, but I kept reminding myself of the reasons why I started and how good I felt after the sessions I did go to (I felt great overtime I left).

Even with this broken rhythm, I also felt more productive at work, had more energy during the day and had  allot more headspace.”

“But things really started to change for me when I made a serious commitment to turn up consistently, as well as cleaning up my eating habits. Learning to prep my food in advance was definitely the biggest mindset shift when it came to my food.

If I hadn’t started, I’d still feel tired al the time, struggle to get out of bed and through the day and would still be that grumpy woman!

I’d also continue to gain weight and feel even more bloated, which is something I really wanted to change.

I’m most proud of the weight I’ve lost, the changes I’ve made to my food and the improvement I’ve made in the way I live.

I’m not s grumpy woman anymore, feel much happier and massively more confident. I’ve so much more energy for my family and I haven’t been this fit and healthy in about 15 years!

I love that I always have a coach when I turn up for my sessions, and the fact that it’s never boring.

I don’t dread visiting people in case they ask me to go for a walk as before I felt as if I was holding people back- my son even calls me the fitness bunny 🙂

So much has changed for me.”

Maries’ advice for anyone in a similar situation

“You really have to drop the excuses, get your mindset sorted, and just commit getting started- stop putting it off….. and off……. and off!

. When you see and feel the difference ini your life it’ll all be worth it.”

Wow, what an inspiring story! And there’s no reason why you can’t do the same. The only thing standing in your way is yourself, and your commitment to building a more rewarding quality of life.

If, like Marie, the time is right to make a change in your quality of life, getting started on our 30 Day Trial is your first step, and you can find out all about it by clicking the link below.

Ciaran Walsh- leaner, fitter and stronger than ever

By Steve McGrath Leave a Comment

Ciaran got started with us with the intention of just doing a 4 month membership. Thankfully, several years later and he is still going strong!!

He had been walking and swimming regularly, but as his work travel schedule is fairly demanding, he found his weight creeping up, his body getting immobile from all the sitting down and his strength not really getting any attention.

With a view of developing a more balanced fitness routine, including a longterm focus on sustainable health, Ciaran brushed aside his stereotypical view of ‘gyms’ and got started.

“Joining a gym had been in the back of my head for years but I had the stereotypical view that it was full of posers, ‘meatheads’ and pounding music, which had put me off taking action.

I had heard good reports about Steve’s place, and after having a chat with him, I decided to give it a go. My initial plan was to sign up for just 4 moths but the program gave me so many benefits that I decided to stay on after my initial program ended.

My main goals were to build a leaner and stronger body, and to also develop a better overall shape. I also wanted to improve my overall mobility as I travel a lot and was feeling the effects that all the sitting was having on my body.

As well as achieving my original goals of leaning up and increasing my strength and mobility, my energy levels and productivity have also really improved.

Feeling the results outside the gym is a real big motivator for me.

I have noticed that the niggles I used to have aren’t there any more, and my posture has really improved, a huge benefit for me due to all the travelling/sitting I do.

I really noticed the benefits after I completed a 3 hour kayaking session and didn’t feel shattered, which I would have previously. And people I haven’t seen in a while have also noticed the changes in me, which is always a good sign.

I do my sessions early in the morning and find that this really sets me up for the day ahead. It primes me for work and allows me to maintain a much more positive focus throughout the day as it puts me in a much better mental state.

I really like the relaxed, friendly and supportive environment. You’re never made to feel stupid or unwelcome, and there is a great sense of camaraderie between both the coaches and clients.

I feel like I’m always in a safe environment and the sessions are always good fun and rewarding- it’s a very enjoyable challenge!!

A big thing for me personally was learning that it’s not about smashing yourself with heavy weights. It’s about learning good technique, challenging yourself safely and focusing on the sustainable benefits to your longterm quality of life.”

Ciaran’s advice to anyone on the fence about trying us out:

“Just get started and try it out like I did. You have absolutely nothing to lose. I don’t see a downside to giving it a go, only an upside.”

So are we the right fit for you and your goals? There’s only one way to find out!! Your first step is to get started on your 30 day trial, so click the link below for full details of what’s involved.

Shirley Murphy- fitter, leaner and more energised= better quality life

By Steve McGrath Leave a Comment

Shirley has been a consistent member with us for the past 7 months and has gone from strength to strength.

Of course, this didn’t happen by chance. Her consistency, willingness to listen and her open-minded approach have been the keys to her success.

Shirley came to us because she was struggling to get through a days work, feeling bloated and uncomfortable in her jeans.

As Shirley works for herself, this wasn’t a great place to be.

I got started because it had gotten to the point where I was feeling very sluggish and low in energy. This started affecting my work and I had to cut my hours back as I couldn’t get through a full day.

I found myself eating more and becoming less active and this just led to a massive decline in my health & fitness.

And of course, I wanted to fit into and feel confident in my clothes which is easier to hide in the winter!

I just didn’t feel the enthusiasm to get up and out. I knew exercise was the key to making you feel better. I knew I could do it but I was after falling too far behind to do it myself so I got in touch after seeing an ad on Facebook.

I had tried doing other things on my own such as running but always found old aches and pains coming back after a few months. I wanted a coach to help me address these things if they returned again so that I could stay on track.

What really stood out to me about yourselves was that I could see you had the clients best interests at heart. I had also heard this from other people so I decided to get started.

The food was a big factor for me but learning how to get a better balance in my diet made a big difference. Simple changes made me fuller for longer and gave me the energy that I was previously lacking. This took a bit of getting used to but at the start but it it’s no problem now.

I suffered neck pain for years but being coached around it, strengthening my body, working on posture, etc. has completely cleared this up.

Since joining I am feeling so much better in myself. I fit into my clothes better, I’ve so much more energy and my mood is much better. I’m now back to working full days and don’t feel the fatigue that I used to at the end of the day.

I get Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) but I find exercising and eating healthier really helps with it. It definitely hasn’t been as bad as it was in previous years since I started- a great knock on effect.

My main focus now is simply to maintain what I have achieved and keep myself fit and healthy.

We asked Shirley what she enjoyed most about working with us?

Your attitude towards your clients is something I haven’t experienced before in other gyms. You can see you care about their personal needs and goals and that you are always there to help with any issues that arise. This compels me to keep coming back 🙂

Any advice for anyone considering working with us but who hasn’t taken that first step yet?

“Definitely give it a try. It’s a bit of a hurdle at the beginning but definitely it’s well worth it and you won’t be sorry. It’s life changing.”

Elaine Warne

By Steve McGrath Leave a Comment

Life often throws us completely unexpected challenges that can derail our best health and fitness intentions. This was the case with Elaine and after a challenging year she decided it was time to get back to feeling fit, strong and healthy.

“I had a challenging year where I was plodding on with life but not really doing anything. My weight was starting to creep up and my iron levels were plummeting so I decided that i needed to take back full control.

I had seen Shauna and the effect it had had on her so I decided to give it a shot.  (Elaine is referring to Shauna Donovan)

I had a trip to new Zealand planned for 6 months time so I just wanted to get started, see if it was for me and now I’m totally addicted.

I had rowed in as a teenage, tried running but it wasn’t for me and love walking so I was active but wasn’t the most sporty person.

I’m not a lover of gym, don’t like mirrors and don’t want to see myself exercising so it was a change for me. After talking to Shauna and seeing how good she was looking and feeling I got started.

My first goal was simply to get my head back on track and feel better in myself and my health and fitness was a part of that. I also wanted to get my weight back to it’s previous level of 64kg This was a secondary goal to getting my head in better shape but I have achieved that since joining.

Once I was brave enough, I put a goal of getting my first push up on the goals board and it did motivate me.

I’d be my own worst critic but the coaches see more in you than you’d see yourself and I can now do 5 and have my goals on getting my first chin up down the line!!

I’m much more confident in the gym and don’t find it as scary as I used to.

The atmosphere in the gym is great. The members that are there are brilliant. While everyone e is there for their own reasons, they push you on, congratulate you and motivate you- it’s great to be able to do it as a team.

I also love the fact that there ups a always a coach there for you all the time. If I just walked into a gym on my own I wouldn’t know where to start and even if I did, i don’t think the motivation would be there.

I do 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) at 7am which really suits me as I work full time and can get my workout done before my working day starts. I delighted to say that unless I was out of the country, I haven’t missed any session since joining!!

I feel more energised, fitter, and stronger- I recently loaded 100kg of compound into a wheelbarrow and sifted it into the shed- I could never have done that before yet i did it without ever thinking. To be honest, I probably won’t ever do it again 🙂

Getting my food on track was a bit of a challenge at the start, especially if there was too much unhealthy food in the house and family members weren’t of the same mindset. I have gotten them eating a bit healthier so thats good.”

We asked Elaine what advice she would give to anyone on the fence about getting started on their own journey:

‘Just get started and see how you get on. Most people are scared and intimidated to join gyms because they are looking at the stronger, fitter clients and comparing themselves but it’s not that sort of gym. When I started I was looking at women doing push up on the ground deadlifting, etc. and now I am doing that stuff. You just need to get over that fear and get started.”

Alan Donovan- smashed his health, fitness and fat-loss goals

By Steve McGrath Leave a Comment

When Alan first walked through our doors he had some serious goals that he wanted to achieve. Over the previous years he had fallen into a rut that he was struggling to get out of.

His weight was increasing and his energy levels were decreasing and this was affecting the quality of life that he wanted. Fast forward to today and

Alan has dropped over 21lb of fat, is fitter than ever, is feeling great has transformed his quality of life in the process.

“I was fairly pissed off in my old job and found myself coming home after work and sitting on the couch comfort eating with sweets, chocolate, etc. which just fed into other bad habits. The weight was going on, my energy levels were gone and I just wasn’t happy with where I was.

It had been on my mind for a while to get back on track and I had started doing a bit of exercise myself but wasn’t seeing the results that I wanted. I was doing unsupervised gym sessions but I didn’t know what i was doing.

My main goals were to lose the weight i had gained over there years, get stronger and fitter and just get more active for my self and my son. He had gotten very active and I was struggling to keep up with him. I didn’t want to be getting heavier and heavier- no son wants to see their father constantly sitting on the couch.

Eventually I decided that I need to get some support, guidance and accountability if I wanted to make progress and see the results I wanted and got in Touch with Steve after seeing him on Facebook

After getting started, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I signed up for 3 days a week and the guys put a lot of emphasis on cleaning up my nutrition and easing me into my program. As the weight started to drop off my initial goal of fat loss became secondary as I started to feel more energised, less stressed and healthier in myself.

I started wearing clothes that hadn’t fit me for years. As I learned more about the importance of healthy food I stopped comfort eating and replaced it with healthier habits such as cycling to work, walks with my family and better food choices.

I started adding in a few runs and also got back to my Tae-Kwon-Do training which I hadn’t done in years. This was alas a big goal for me when I started.

I committed to the program from the start and have a much better outlook on life and better self esteem as a result. The results have also had a positive knock-on effect to my family and they are healthier as a result.”

We asked Alan what he liked best about working with us and what advice he would give to anyone in a similar situation looking to make a change for the better

“The guidance, motivation and accountability made the biggest difference for me. Before I would put things off saying I’d do it tomorrow but tomorrow never came!!! The workouts never get boring as they are changed regularly and very engaging.

My advice to anyone in a similar situation is to just bite the bullet and get started. If you fully commit you won’t regret it- it’s as simple as that.”

Grace Sillett Hegarty- real world results for a super busy mother

By Steve McGrath Leave a Comment

Full disclosure up front. When I was was younger, Grace used work in the local shop in Cobh that sold and rented out movies and computer games. There wasn’t a week went by that I didn’t go in and drive her demented with my questions and messing around so I’m delighted that she didn’t hold it against me all these years. You’re are and always were a superstar Grace!!

Like many of our clients, Grace is super busy. Being a mother of 3 children, working a full time job and a husband who works shifts, Grace could easily come up with several reasons as to why she doesn’t have time to take care of her health & fitness needs. but you’ll see from her story below how she makes the time, why it’s important to her and how it benefits her in her everyday life.

“A big reason for me getting started was to improve my posture and strength. I’v always felt very hunched over with my locked down and felt so weak I couldn’t open a jam jar. While I didn’t have a lot of weight to lose I did want to tone up as well.

I had bought a posture support and was doing a lot of running but I wasn’t getting the results that I wanted so I got in touch with Steve as I had trained with him a few years ago. I really wanted to see progress with my results and change things up from the running as I have been doing that for years.

Since starting with the guys I feel so much stronger, leaner and more mobile due to my posture.

When I got started I couldn’t believe how weak I was doing what looked like simple things. The first time I tried to move the prowler (Steve note: This tis a piece of equipment you push along the floor) I couldn’t budge it but now I can run up the gym with it. I struggled to lift 6kg dumbbells but can now press the 12kg multiple times.

I couldn’t do a push up but now can do over 10.

I work full time, my husband works shift and we have 3 children so it does take a lot of organisation to make time for myself. I’m in the gym 18 months and train 3 days a week and I feel so much better for making it work around my busy schedule.

People have noticed how much healthier, stronger and more toned I look even since I started with the guys even though I’ve always exercised and my husband can’t get over how toned my arms look!!

I so much more aware of my posture and can adjust it when necessary where as before I just seem to be locked into a bad position and and also bounce back much quicker if I get sick or run down which has made a massive difference for me.

Because I was running so much and for so long, I find the gym much more enjoyable as well as seeing the results that I want. I love the variety of the training, the atmosphere and the coaches who are always there for you. Also, the unbelievable difference in my strength feels great- I never dread coming in as there is always great craic and support from everyone.

As I said, with such a busy lifestyle, it’s not easy but putting the effort in and making the time for me has definitely been worth it.”

From all the team and community, well Done Grace. Delighted to see you efforts and consistency paying off.

Tim Fouhy- an unlikely success story!

By Steve McGrath Leave a Comment

So why is Tim an ‘unlikely success story?

Well, when Tim first came into us his words to me were “I don’t think this is for me. I cant see myself keeping it up for very long.”

It’s not that he didn’t have goals that he wanted to achieve. He simply didn’t think he had the ability to achieve them and change the habits that were holding him back.

Your mindset can make or break you and Tim is a perfect example of how it can support you in your goals once you have a strong enough reason ‘WHY’ and are committed to putting in the effort to achieve them.

So far Tim has:

  • lost over 23lb of excess fat
  • Dropped 13 inches from his torso
  • Has completed a few 5k races which he also wanted to try
  • Can perform multiple sets of 10+ push ups
  • Can deadlift over 1005 kg
  • and has recently learned how to skip like a pro!!

My main goals when I started were to lose weight, tone up and increase my energy. I wads doing a bit of walking but was comfort eating a lot and I just wasn’t happy with how sluggish this was making me feel. I really wanted to feel healthier and  fitter within myself and my lifestyle and actions weren’t supporting that.

I had tried the gym before but received no accountability or support so it didn’t last long as I didn’t see any changes. At the end of the day I would just go home, sit on the couch and eat. As I had nobody supporting me and telling me what to do next it became a vicious cycle of eating more, feeling worse and putting off making real changes for even longer.

Life goes on and before I knew it I was in an even deeper rut as I approached 50. I had walked the Camino before and found that the structure, commitment and accountability it provided really helped me so after looking in the mirror one day I realised things weren’t going to change by themselves and that I needed to do something about it. I saw Steve’s gym on Facebook and got in touch to get started.

My mindset at the start was a big obstacle for me. I’d see people out running or progressing in the gym and say I’d love to be able to do that but didn’t have the confidence or ability to take action on it.

What really helped me change this mindset were the approaches the coaches took. They started me slowly, explained everything and never pushed me into anything I wasn’t able for. This program structure and gradual progress really allowed me to build my confidence and self belief that I could succeed in hitting the goals.

As I progressed they would step up the challenge just enough that I could achieve it. Now I feel I could take on any challenge. I have even completed a few 5k runs which I would never have attempted before and would love to achieve my first chin up as I see my strength progressing in the gym

We asked Tim what his advice would be to anyone in a similar situation to where he was and is serious about improving their quality of life.

The biggest thing for me was taking action and just getting started. Never mind the ‘should I’s’ or the ‘maybe’s’. Book in your your consultation mark it in your diary and just turn up.

The coaches and community are very helpful so no matter your current situation, start slowly and give yourself time. Fight the impatience and just let it happen.

If you can relate to Tims story and want to find out how our programs can help you achieve your sustainable health, fitness and fat-loss goals then click the consultation banner below, fill in your details and we’ll be in touch ASAP.

Yours in health,

Steve McGrath
