Coach Steve’s Note: Stephen Stromsoe has been exceptional in performing his program to date. He has listened to his coaches and applied what they have been telling him to do consistently and because of this Stephen has gained all that he could from his program. He has gained lean muscle, become more explosive and gained a lot more mobility. Stephen showcased his new strengths recently at our spring testing week and not only recorded various personal bests in the Deadlift and Olympic Snatch but he also blew our gym record away with 20 chin ups!!!
“I joined Steve McGrath Health and Performance gym after coming home from a bit of travel. After getting limited physical activity for 5 months, and living on a diet of Noodles and beer, (as fun as it was) my body was craving regular exercise and discipline. Mainly I wanted to get back into a good training routine, improve my strength, build some muscle mass and basically improve my overall level of fitness. I was previously a member of Steve McGrath Health and Performance for a few months before I went away, so when got home I didn’t hesitate in getting straight back onto Steve, as I knew I was in good hands.
I would say I had a decent enough fitness level before joining Steve’s gym, but it was not where I wanted it to be. Prior to joining, I neglected things like mobility, and had some niggles and injuries that I tended to ignore rather than work on fixing.
From the individualized programs given to me at Steve’s gym I have made great progress with my strength, explosive power, mobility, balance and gained quality muscle mass in the process. Also I have made great progress with my joint strength, injures and energy levels despite not even knowing I was training for these! I have probably never in my life trained as much as I am at the moment, and at the same time I have never had so much energy. It’s great!
Another thing that I like about Steve McGrath Health and Performance is the unique atmosphere. Steve makes sure everyone is introduced to one other as soon as someone new joins. So the fact that everyone knows everyone goes a long way in making it a really positive and friendly environment to train in. Which does make a difference.
One of the biggest things for me that sets Steve McGrath Health and Performance apart from most other gyms is the continued support from the coaches. No matter how busy they are, or how many clients are in the gym, the coaches are always at hand to offer support. I am a firm believer that it is better to be educated in the different exercises and movements you’re going through rather than having instructions thrown at you, and that is certainly the case here.
Personally I have been working on my Olympic lifts for the past few months, particularly the snatch and the clean. With technical exercises like these, without coaching it would be very difficult to make progress. But I have to say, the lads have been very patient and have offered me so many little nuggets of information regarding these exercises, and now a few months on, I have really noticed the improvements.
Obviously, making positive changes in your lifestyle starts with you. It doesn’t matter if you have all the support in the world working with you, if you’re not willing to apply yourself to getting fit and healthy, it won’t happen. But if you are ready to make changes in your lifestyle, then Steve McGrath Health and Performance will most definitely provide you with the tools and support you need to reaching your goals!
