Steve’s Note: Kevin has shown great attitude and patience with his training. Through listening to his coaches and physiotherapist on how he should train and recover from injuries he has had (including achilles tendonitis, osteitis pubis and plantar fasciitis) and putting in a consistently great efforts in the gym, Kevin has made huge progress while really getting on top of these issues. Kevin is a prime example of many of our clients that has a family and full time job but has made his training apart of his routine and lifestyle. As we always say, the right attitude, consistency and implementing what you learn are the keys to success. Kevin Is a prime example of this.
I joined Steve McGrath Health & Performance to improve my strength and conditioning which I hoped would lead to faster times on the road racing circuit.
When I joined Steve McGrath Health & Performance I had alot of pain, discomfort in my lower joints and tendons especially my achilles and feet as a result of overtraining, poor posture, lack of guidance and coaching and poor training habits as regards recovery and mobility work.
I am now pain free, stronger, leaner, happier, more positive and energetic than I have ever been in my life which has made a huge difference not only to my personal life, but my family life and career as well.
Previously I trained 12 hours a week i.e. mostly running. Now I train 6. For half the time (not half the effort I hasten to add) I’m getting better results:
- Less pain
- Stronger
- Leaner
- More energy for family and career
I find the atmosphere at Steve McGrath Health & Performance exceptional. The facility has the highest of standards which they regularly surpass and the training environment is also great fun and welcoming. I wake up every morning excited to go to my session to meet my coach and fellow class mates.
The Facebook page, monthly workshops and recipes are excellent but it’s the constant feedback and positive encouragement that keeps me on track and motivated to achieve my short and long term goals.
The level of coaching is first class – I couldn’t praise it enough. I have been a member of a number of health clubs and gyms over the years and Steve McGrath Health & Performance is easily the best facility I have been in.
I don’t like to single out any one individual as all the coaches are exceptional but I have to say I particularly enjoy working out with Duncan who has been a huge help to me and always encourages me to be the best I can be and better than the day before.

Joining Steve McGrath Health & Performance on 13th January 2014 was probably the best decision I made this year. Previously I was a “ cardio junkie” who thought endurance events were the only way to train – how wrong I was.
I still like to go for a jog but I will never go back to the way I was pre Steve McGrath Health & Performance as I now have a better understanding of how to train smarter, safer and with better results in half the time. I can’t wait for the next stage of my journey with Steve McGrath Health & Performance (i.e. moving from the class timetable to the athlete specific program) and I know in Steve McGrath Health & Performance I have a great team of professionals around me who will help me achieve my short and long term goals and objectives.
